Job: Chemical Engineer/Chemist Company: BAE Systems Hourly Rate: £28.47 PAYE or £38.25 Umbrella Location: Glascoed 3/4 days per week on-site Contract: 6-12 months (opportunity to be extended) Working Hours: 37 hours per week Monday-Thursday Key Responsibilities: Supporting product design and systems engineering activities for new and legacy products, including product design and evaluation using systems engineering tools (e.g. Pugh Matrices, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)). Process design, definition and critical evaluation e.g. Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Process Control Plans (PCP) ensuring safety remains the highest priority in the working practices of yourself and the team. Hands on development with energetic and other materials to support product design and development activity. Develop new manufacturing processes, in line with Engineering Plans and Budgets. Technical solutions and processes must be robust, timely, cost-effective and meet Customer expectations. Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with industry standard controls that ensure long term process stability, including: Lean Principles, Process Control Plans, PFMEAs; plus awareness of Programmable Logic Controls and Visual Management Systems on automated process lines. Specify and qualify new equipment, often working with suppliers to meet tight deadlines. Ensure all process equipment meets regulatory and safety standards.
