This pivotal role offers the opportunity to create nutritious, delicious meals that delight our residents and support their wellbeing.
Job Responsibility:
Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of nutritious meals in line with dietary requirements and preferences of care home residents
Ensure all dishes meet quality, presentation, and hygiene standards in accordance with food safety regulations
Manage kitchen operations efficiently, including stock control, ordering supplies, and minimising waste
Work collaboratively with care staff to accommodate special dietary needs such as allergies, diabetes, and religious requirements
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment at all times
Contribute to menu development by introducing variety and seasonal ingredients that enhance residents’ dining experience
Supervise and support kitchen assistants, fostering a positive and productive team atmosphere
Comply with all health and safety policies and procedures
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Chef within the catering and hospitality industry, ideally in a care home or similar setting
Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are desirable
Strong knowledge of nutrition, food hygiene, and safety standards (e.g. Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate)
Ability to prepare meals that meet special dietary requirements
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time and resources effectively
Good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with residents, care staff, and suppliers
A caring and patient approach, understanding the unique needs of elderly residents
Nice to have:
Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are desirable
Proven experience as a Chef within the catering and hospitality industry, ideally in a care home or similar setting
