Job Description:

As the Chef Manager at Streatham & Clapham Prep School, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and delivery of meals for both the prep school and nursery. You will lead a small, dedicated team and ensure the highest standards of food quality, hygiene, and service are maintained. This role offers the opportunity to manage and nurture a small team while contributing to the well-being of students and staff.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee food preparation and meal service for the prep school and nursery
  • Lead and manage a small team of 4-6 staff
  • Ensure high standards of food quality, hygiene, and health and safety are maintained
  • Plan and develop menus that meet the needs of students and staff
  • Manage stock control and order supplies as needed
  • Control food budgets and ensure cost-effective operations
  • Ensure meals are nutritious, balanced, and cater to dietary requirements
  • Monitor and maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative working environment within the kitchen team

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar chef or kitchen management role
  • Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene certification (or equivalent)
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of dietary requirements and allergen management
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Passion for quality food and a commitment to high standards of service
