Job Description

This position is accountable for managing the overall operations of a defined patient care unit during an assigned shift. This position has 24 hour responsibility for the direct supervision of all clinical personnel who provide patient care and the day to day coordination of quality of clinical nursing care of patients. The incumbent is accountable for monitoring, evaluation, and directing patient care provided by staff, coordinating activities of the patient care unit, making staff assignments and assisting with the development and evaluation of staff members. The incumbent will assist with the recruitment and hiring of staff, evaluating staff competency and evaluating, coaching, and counseling assigned staff in concert with the Manager/Supervisor. This position practices within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Children's policies.

Requirements

  • College Degree - 4 year (required)
  • RN - Registered Nurse License - CA-BRN - California Board of Registered Nursing (required)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program - AHA - American Heart Association within six (6) months of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • NCC - National Certification Corporation - NCC - National Certification Corporation (required)
  • Minimum three (3) years Full time or equivalent nursing experience (required)
  • Demonstrated abilities in the areas of critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution, leadership including delegation, collaboration, feedback, effective communication and customer focused service behaviors

  • College Degree - 4 year Nursing (preferred)
  • Minimum one (1) year In a Regional or Community NICU (preferred)
