Job Description

The Department of Chemistry and Forensic Science is seeking Undergraduate Laboratory Assistants to assist with the coverage of laboratory courses under the supervision of the laboratory course coordinator and a faculty supervisor. Appointment is for the Summer 2026 semester, with option to renew as openings are available.

Job Responsibility

  • Attend trainings and pre-lab discussions
  • Prepare for the laboratory by completing the experiment themselves or shadowing an experienced teaching assistant
  • Ensure the safety of students
  • Grade/record all lab reports for their lab section(s)
  • Be available during scheduled lab class meetings as well as prep time outside of class

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled at EKU
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for Federal Work Study and/or Institutional Work Study
  • Must have completed CHE 325 and CHE 362
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for all courses taken

Nice to have

Pursuing a degree in Chemistry or related STEM program
