Assembles necessary supplies and equipment, and administers intravenous, spinal, and other anesthetics prior to surgical or other medical procedures
Monitors patients reactions and vital signs during and after anesthesia and takes remedial action when warranted
Submits postoperative report on patients condition, and maintains records of anesthetics administered
Provides anesthesia services, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care to patients
Performs pre-anesthesia functions including determining that an appropriate pre-anesthetic examination has been made, insuring relevant tests are completed, and reviewing the patient's condition prior to induction
Performs post-anesthesia duties including remaining with the patient until safe to transfer care, advising on post-anesthetic care, administering post-operative analgesia, and making post-anesthetic visits
Responsible for narcotic accounting and distribution
Responds to life threatening, Code Blue/Code 4 and respiratory emergencies if available
Assists nursing units with difficult intravenous (IV) insertions when requested
May administers anesthesia under the supervision of the operating surgeon
May provides labor analgesia in the Birth Day Center
Maintains knowledge of scientific theory, research findings, current practice and applicable standards
May participate in departmental improvement processes and ASC processes when appropriate
Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties.
Requirements:
Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices
Nurse Anesthetist certification (CRNA) issued by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists
Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license issued by the state of Wisconsin
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required
Master's Degree in Nursing

Must be able to fulfill department schedule needs, which may include 24/7 call and weekend coverage, as needed.
