Provides anesthesia services, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care to patients. Performs pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia duties. Responsible for narcotic accounting and distribution. Responds to emergencies and assists with IV insertions.
Job Responsibility:
Provides anesthesia services, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care to patients
Performs pre-anesthesia functions including determining that an appropriate pre-anesthetic examination has been made
Performs post-anesthesia duties including remaining with the patient until it is safe to transfer responsibility
Responsible for narcotic accounting and distribution
Responds to life threatening, Code Blue/Code 4 and respiratory emergencies if available
Assists nursing units with difficult intravenous (IV) insertions when requested
May administers anesthesia under the supervision of the operating surgeon
May provides labor analgesia in the Birth Day Center
Maintains knowledge of scientific theory, research findings, current practice and applicable standards
May participate in departmental improvement processes and ASC processes when appropriate
Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
Requirements:
Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices
Nurse Anesthetist certification (CRNA) issued by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists
Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license issued by the state of Wisconsin
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required
Master's Degree in Nursing
Must be able to fulfill department schedule needs, which may include 24/7 call and weekend coverage, as needed
Must have functional vision and hearing
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. over the head
Must be able to carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance
Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force
Must be able to perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present
Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shift
Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job
