Job Responsibility:
Provides all elements of pre-anesthesia, anesthesia and post-anesthesia services including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care consistent with anesthesia plan and in collaboration with the surgeon/anesthesiologist/surgical team
Manages conditions based on clinical indication, evidence-based care, cost effectiveness, and assessment of risks/benefits and alternatives
Participates in preoperative evaluation including but not limited to assessment, exam, obtaining informed consent, ordering/administering pre‐medications, requesting and/or review of preoperative studies
Ensures readiness and availability of equipment, supplies and medications to perform the planned anesthetic
Delivers anesthesia care including induction, maintenance, support of life functions, and emergence from anesthesia
Selects, obtains, and administers the necessary anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, fluids, and temperature regulating devices to manage the anesthetic, assesses response, and intervene as needed
Performs post-anesthesia duties including remaining with the patient and facilitating safe transfer of care to other qualified individuals
administering post-operative epidural pain relief and other post-operative analgesia in collaboration with the surgeon
and making post-anesthetic visits regarding the presence or absence of anesthesia related complications
Manage emergency situations by assessing, stabilizing, and determining disposition of patients, including providing advanced airway management, administration of emergency drugs and fluids, and using basic and advanced cardiac life support techniques
Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
Substantiates and submits professional services consistent with compliant coding and billing practices
Participates in quality, safety and peer review initiatives/performance activities, organizational and/or departmental meetings and committees, peer review, and workgroups as necessary
Participates in education and/or onboarding of new team members, students, and other health care professionals
Seeks experiences to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and advance the profession within and outside of the organization
Maintains standards of productivity, access, face-to-face time, and quality metrics to ensure optimal, safe and timely patient care delivery
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
Requirements:
Active RN, and APRN/APRN-FPA/APNP or other APRN license(s) in state(s) of practice
Active national board certification as CRNA by nationally certifying board (NBCRNA)
Active DEA registration prior to hire
If Illinois practice: active Illinois Controlled Substance License prior to hire
Active ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by clinical site/practice and/or role prior to or within 6 months of hire
Master’s Degree in Nursing
No experience required
Demonstrated high level of clinical proficiency, and excellent decision-making skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective member of a health care team
Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving technology and proficiency with the electronic medical record
Excellent communication skills
Ability to effectively collaborate with and establish/build relationships with others
Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively
Must have functional vision and hearing
Must be able to: - Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist. - Lift up to 20 lbs. over the head. - Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. - Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force. - Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present
Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shift
Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique
Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job
