This Contract-to-permanent position involves managing government fund accounting, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with public regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in investment management, auditing, and collaboration with relevant state departments to optimize financial outcomes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee fund accounting processes, ensuring accurate reporting of revenues from royalties, taxes, and natural resource operations
  • Prepare detailed financial statements in accordance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines
  • Conduct audits to ensure transparency, compliance, and adherence to financial governance requirements
  • Develop and implement investment strategies to achieve sustainable returns while mitigating risks
  • Evaluate investment opportunities, including real estate and equities, ensuring alignment with public fund regulations
  • Monitor investment performance and recommend adjustments to meet financial objectives
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing public funds and natural resource revenues
  • Collaborate with various state departments, including legal and resource management teams, to enhance financial outcomes
  • Provide training and mentorship to finance team members, focusing on financial analysis and investment processes
  • Uphold ethical standards and demonstrate fiduciary responsibility in all financial practices

Requirements:

  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, public fund management, or investment finance
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal reporting requirements and investment regulations for public funds
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make informed investment recommendations
  • Experience with accounting software systems such as CCH ProSystem Fx, Drake Tax Software, and ADP Financial Services
  • Familiarity with natural resource industries and economic priorities
  • Excellent leadership and collaboration skills to work effectively with state departments and stakeholders
