Job Description

We are seeking a detail oriented Certified Payroll Specialist with hands on experience in Workday and exposure to system implementation or optimization projects. This role is ideal for someone who understands certified payroll compliance requirements and has supported payroll system configurations, testing, or rollout efforts in a fast paced environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage requirements
  • Ensure accuracy of timekeeping, wage calculations, fringe benefits, and job classifications
  • Work within Workday to process payroll data, troubleshoot issues, and support system functionality
  • Assist with Workday implementation, upgrades, testing, and post go live stabilization efforts
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Project Management teams to ensure payroll compliance and system alignment
  • Reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Maintain audit ready documentation for all certified payroll submissions
  • Support reporting requests related to labor compliance and project based payroll tracking

Requirements

  • Recent experience in certified payroll processing, preferably in construction, public works, or government contracting environments
  • Hands on experience with Workday Payroll or Workday HCM strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting Workday implementation, configuration, or system enhancement projects highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of prevailing wage laws and certified payroll compliance requirements
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and reconciliation skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple payroll cycles simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills for working with internal teams and external auditors or agencies

Nice to have

  • Experience with labor compliance reporting systems in addition to Workday
  • Familiarity with union payroll requirements and multi state payroll environments
  • Prior exposure to system testing, UAT, or payroll parallel testing during implementation projects
