Join our team as a day shift, full-time, Acute Care Inpatient Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in Amarillo, TX.
Job Responsibility:
Work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to implement treatment plans designed to help clients improve their ability to perform daily living and work-related tasks
Carry out treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist to improve patients' motor, cognitive, and social skills
Assist patients in performing therapeutic exercises, activities, and tasks
Demonstrate the use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices
Monitor patient progress and communicate observations to the Occupational Therapist
Provide encouragement, education, and support to clients and their families
Maintain accurate records of patient activities, progress, and outcomes
Assist in preparing reports for the Occupational Therapist and other team members
Work closely with Occupational Therapists and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care
Participate in team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
Adhere to all state and federal regulations, as well as professional and ethical standards
Follow infection control and safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
Requirements:
Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting from an accredited program
Texas state licensure to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
Knowledge of therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and assistive technology
Nice to have:
Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) as a COTA
Experience in acute care rehabilitation
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Ability to adapt therapy techniques to meet individual patient needs
