Certified Nursing Assistant

• Provides basic nursing care and assists with activities of daily living to a designated group of healthcare consumers
• Creates an organized work environment that is conducive to efficient workflow for the clinical staff
• Provides services which encompass the spiritual, physiological, social, and psychological aspects of care of the sick, prevention of disease, or conservation of health
• Contributes to the assessment of the health status of the healthcare consumer
• Contributes to the plan of care through observation, data collection and communication of findings to the appropriate member of the multidisciplinary team
• Provides basic patient care activities based on the plan of care and as delegated
• Contributes to the evaluation of the healthcare consumer by observing responses to interventions and communicating findings to the appropriate member of the multidisciplinary team
• Documents cares provided in the healthcare consumer’s record
• Demonstrates personal and professional responsibility for ongoing development, practice, and education
• Maintains a safe work environment
• Fosters a collaborative environment in support of the nursing profession
• Performs clerical functions to include by not limited to- filing, maintaining patient logs, generating reports, records and scheduling patient appointments
• Sets priorities for response and communicates with appropriate personnel
• Responds appropriately in emergency situations as support for clinical staff

• Active certification as a Nurse Assistant on the Nebraska and/or Iowa Nurse Aide Registry depending on the state worked
• Basic Life Support is required upon hire
• Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications – American Heart Association: Basic Life Support
• Skilled Nursing Facility Only: Must have successfully completed the 75-hour state approved course for Nursing Assistant if hired into the Nursing Assistant position after April 30, 1998
• Knowledge of current Certified Nursing Assistant scope of practice, critical thinking skills, professional verbal and written communication skills, technical/computer skills, attention to detail, customer service skills, adaptability, maintain confidentiality
