Job Responsibility:
Providing hands-on personal care including: Baths, Oral hygiene, Shampoos, changing bed linen, assisting with dressing and undressing, skin care and prevention of skin breakdown, toileting assistance, keeping living area clean and orderly as needed
Assisting in feeding the patient, if necessary
Taking and recording oral, temporal and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration, pulse oximetry and blood pressure when ordered
Assisting in ambulation and exercise according to the plan of care
Performing range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered
Performing simple procedures as an extension of nursing services as ordered
Assisting patient in the self-administration of medication
Doing patient’s laundry, as appropriate
Meeting safety needs of patients and using equipment safely and properly
Reporting on patient’s condition and significant changes to the assigned nurse or case manager
Planning and preparing nutritious meals
Transport client to doctor’s office, grocery store and other essential errands
Requirements:
Certified by the state as a nurse aide
One-year experience in hospital or nursing home setting
At least 18 years of age
Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given
Displays initiative and able to work with minimal direct supervision
Empathy for the needs of the ill, frail, and impaired
Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene
Possess and maintain valid CPR certification
Must have reliable transportation, current driver's license and appropriate automobile insurance
Nice to have:
Home health experience preferred
