Certified Nursing Assistant

• Providing hands-on personal care including: Baths, Oral hygiene, Shampoos, changing bed linen, assisting with dressing and undressing, skin care and prevention of skin breakdown, toileting assistance, keeping living area clean and orderly as needed
• Assisting in feeding the patient, if necessary
• Taking and recording oral, temporal and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration, pulse oximetry and blood pressure when ordered
• Assisting in ambulation and exercise according to the plan of care
• Performing range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered
• Performing simple procedures as an extension of nursing services as ordered
• Assisting patient in the self-administration of medication
• Doing patient’s laundry, as appropriate
• Meeting safety needs of patients and using equipment safely and properly
• Reporting on patient’s condition and significant changes to the assigned nurse or case manager
• Planning and preparing nutritious meals
• Transport client to doctor’s office, grocery store and other essential errands

• Certified by the state as a nurse aide
• One-year experience in hospital or nursing home setting
• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given
• Displays initiative and able to work with minimal direct supervision
• Empathy for the needs of the ill, frail, and impaired
• Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene
• Possess and maintain valid CPR certification
• Must have reliable transportation, current driver's license and appropriate automobile insurance
