Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse, the nursing assistant performs various duties in the care and treatment of patients in accordance with established methods and procedures of the Medical Center.
Job Responsibility:
Provides direct care to patients in accordance with their individualized care plans
Assists patient with activities of daily living, including bathing, oral care, dressing, grooming, and toileting
Assist in transportation and transfer of patients, ensuring comfort and safety during movement
Monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, and other patient data, reporting any abnormalities or concerns to nursing team
Accuchecks completed as directed
Accurate and prompt documentation
Assist with patient hygiene and comfort measures, including turning and repositioning patients to prevent pressure ulcers
Support patients with feeding and hydration needs, adhering to dietary restrictions and assisting with mealtime activities. Removing trays in timely manner.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and promote positive patient outcomes
Completes hourly rounds to assigned patients and anticipates patient needs. Responding promptly to call lights and patient requests
Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families, demonstrating empathy and compassion in all interactions
Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including changing bed linens, stocking supplies, and ensuring cleanliness of patient rooms, and preparing rooms for admissions and transfers.
Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital policies and procedures to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients and staff
Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge in patient care and hospital procedures
Requirements:
Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in DE
BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification
High school diploma preferred OR current high school student with CNA license (work schedule in compliance with the State of Delaware Department of Labor Regulations)
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
