SUMMARY: The CNA will be responsible for providing basic care to residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The CNA will assist residents with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality care to our residents.
Job Responsibility
Receive nursing report upon arrival for duty
Adhere to established policies regarding exposure to blood/body fluids
Help residents with daily dental and mouth care, including brushing teeth/dentures, oral hygiene, and special mouth care
Assist residents with dressing/undressing when necessary
Assist residents with hair care functions, such as combing, brushing, and shampooing
Help residents with nail care by clipping, trimming, and cleaning finger/toenails, excluding diabetic residents
Shave male residents and keep female residents' hair on areas such as the face, underarms, and legs clean-shaven as directed
Keep residents dry by changing soiled or wet gowns, clothing, briefs, and linens
Change bed linens, ensuring they are tight to prevent wrinkles under the resident
Make both occupied and unoccupied beds
Position bedfast residents in comfortable and correct positions
Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions, such as taking them to the bathroom or offering bedpan/urinal/portable commode
Maintain intake and output records as instructed, and report bowel movement and stool character
Collect specimens, such as urine, sputum, or stool, as directed
Assist residents in preparing and participating in activity and social programs, such as church services, parties, and visits
Help transport residents to appointments, activities, and social programs as required
Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents in and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
Assist residents with walking, with or without self-help devices, as directed
Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed
Provide eye and ear care, such as warm/cold compresses and cleaning eyeglasses/hearing aids, as directed
Assist in preparing residents for physical examinations
Weigh and measure residents as directed
Measure and record temperatures, pulse, and respirations (TPRs), as instructed
Measure and record required details about residents
Respond promptly to resident calls and check on those who are unable to call for help frequently
Exhibit patience, tact, cheerfulness, and enthusiasm, and handle difficult residents with willingness
Be capable of pushing, pulling, moving, and/or lifting a minimum of 50-100 pounds
Routinely check each resident to ensure their personal care needs align with their wishes
Assist residents with ADLs to ensure they function at their highest attainable level
Help care for dying residents and provide post-mortem care as directed
Perform other duties as assigned and current duties if altered by supervisor
Requirements
Must possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
75 hour State approved Nursing Assistant course and placed on State Registry
Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Nebraska
Possess or pass test for CPR
Prefer a valid Driver's License, must be insurable to obtain Government License
Must have good oral and written communication skills
Must have the ability to give direction as well as receive
Must pass background check, physical, and pre-employment drug screen
