We are currently seeking motivated and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to work at our Skookumchuk operation. Located in the East Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canfor’s Skookumchuck site operates a Whole Log Chipping facility that plays a key role in supporting our woodlands operations. The site processes sustainably harvested pulp logs into high‑quality wood chips, contributing to Canfor’s low‑carbon product portfolio.
Job Responsibility
Ensure safety standards are met by following Canfor safe work and lockout procedures
Develop strong working relationships with your peers and team
Maintain and repair mobile equipment such as CBI 7544 Chipper de-barker, Peterson 5000H Chipper de-barker, 966MXE Grapple loader, 558 log loader, 325D High decker
Requirements
Certified Journeyman
Heavy Duty Mechanic Interprovincial certificate
Experience with hydraulics, electronics and welding
Superior troubleshooting skills
Strong analytical skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
