PRN, 8 hours per week, day shift. Performs accurate, consistent, and complete abstracting of patient records. Conducts quality analysis of records to ensure compliance with CAP protocols, AJCC staging, and ACOS requirements. Queries database and creates reports on requested subsets of cancer patient data.
Job Responsibility:

Queries database and creates reports on requested subsets of cancer patient data
Reviews all path reports on Chartmax and attach staging form
Ensures that CAP protocol for cancer is on each appropriate path report
Ensures that AJCC staging has been done by the physician
Demonstrates thorough working knowledge of all required manuals required for abstracting
Participate in community outreach, screening, education, and support activities of the Cancer Program
Effectively promotes a positive work environment
Demonstrates a high level of teamwork, cooperation, and respect
Participates in marketing the Center and its programs
Assists the Cancer Program Coordinator as requested
Participates in weekly Tumor Board conference as assigned, documenting meeting minutes and decisions
Performs QA on Radiation Oncology patient list, ICD9 list, and Chemotherapy list each month
Submits data monthly to the ACOS National Cancer Database, and to the State Tumor Registry
Reports departmental statistics to department manager
Maintains day to day operations within the Cancer Registry Department in the absence of the Oncology Program Manager
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of ACOS program accreditation standards
Upholds a professional working relationship at all times
Practices teamwork and adheres to Standards of Behavior
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED General Studies Required
Associates Health Science or related field
Certified Cancer Registrar Required
2+ Cancer Registry Required
Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology, AJCC and Seer Staging, ICO-3 manual, Collaborative Staging, Multiple Primary Histology Manual, and COC FORDS manual
Working knowledge of ACOS requirements
Knowledge of Cancer data software systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
Strong investigative and analytical skills with detail orientation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to function as a self-paced individual
