Job Description:

As a Phlebotomist, you will competently collect blood and other patient specimens for diagnostic testing, ensuring comfort and safety.Every day you will identify patients, explain procedures, proficiently perform venipunctures, and accurately label/prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, adhering to safety protocols.To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills for accurate diagnostics and patient satisfaction.

Job Responsibility:

  • Competently collect blood and other patient specimens for diagnostic testing, ensuring comfort and safety
  • Identify patients, explain procedures, proficiently perform venipunctures, and accurately label/prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, adhering to safety protocols
  • Processes, collects, and transports specimens from patients of all ages in an accurate and safe manner following CLSI guidelines and laboratory policies
  • Proficient in the use of the laboratory computer systems
  • Proficient in understanding specimen processing requirements and quality collection
  • Consistently utilizes approved protocols and demonstrates teamwork and cooperation to ensure specimens are collected, transported, received, and distributed in an efficient and timely manner
  • Competent to perform all types of registration duties as required with complete and accurate information
  • Promotes a positive image of dignity health through professional, efficient and pleasant interactions with patients, physician, provider staff and co-workers

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years Experience as either a CPT or as a Laboratory Assistant in a clinical laboratory or a full service outreach laboratory setting
  • Phlebotomist: CA, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Nice to have:

  • High School Graduate general studies and 4-6 years Experience as either a CPT or a Lab Assistant in a full service outreach laboratory setting, upon hire
  • 1 year previous venipuncture experience
  • Other college chemistry, biology, or mathematics, upon hire

  • Competent to perform all types of registration duties as required with complete and accurate information. Understands and follows billing processes. Ensures all laboratory orders are compliant with laboratory standards and provides follow-up for all missing compliance data.
  • Promotes a positive image of dignity health through professional, effecient and pleasant interactions with patients, physician, provider staff and co-workers. Interacts well with other hospital departments including but not limited to: admitting, billing and other ancillary departments. Consistently promotes patient satisfaction which is monitored by survey scores measured monthly.
