This position offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in driving the integrity, consistency, and insightfulness of cost performance across one of Europe's most ambitious industrial projects. As part of the Central Project Controls Function, the position governs cost control frameworks, supports delivery teams, and ensures the accuracy of cost data used for strategic decision-making. The focus is on standards-setting, oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to enable effective project delivery.
Job Responsibility:
Develop, maintain, and govern cost control standards, tools, templates, and procedures
Provide independent oversight of cost performance, identifying variances, trends, and risks across delivery areas
Maintain a reliable single source of cost data throughout the project lifecycle
Coordinate and govern the integrated change control process for cost aspects, ensuring thorough cross-functional impact assessments
Support Area Cost Leads with consistent methodologies and reporting standards across the programme
Deliver training and guidance to cost control staff
Produce consolidated cost dashboards and insights for leadership and project improvement units
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in cost management systems and processes
Deploy cost resources to delivery areas when additional support is required
Manage the end-to-end change control process, including framework, standards, workflows, and templates
Ensure all changes are robustly assessed for impacts on cost, schedule, risk, and interfaces
Support area teams to effectively embed change control practices
Requirements:
Approximately 15 years of experience in cost control for large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects, preferably under EPCM contracts
Strong understanding of cost management frameworks such as AACE and PMI standards
Proven expertise working across cross-functional interfaces including engineering, procurement, construction, quality, and planning
High proficiency with cost control tools and reporting systems, including Earned Value Management (EVM), forecasting, and KPIs
Demonstrated ability to lead in complex, dynamic environments with multiple stakeholders
Exceptional communication and influencing skills with the ability to support executive-level decision-making
Proactive, solution-oriented, with a strong sense of structure, integrity, and accountability
Track record of driving continuous improvement in cost management practices
Ability to deliver under tight deadlines and adapting to shifting project priorities
