The role of the Center Medical Director at Oak Street Health includes leading the clinical team at the center to provide excellent patient care, practicing primary care alongside colleagues, and participating in organizational-wide initiatives. This position is mission-driven, aims to improve health outcomes for Medicare patients, and includes a mix of clinical and administrative tasks.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the clinical team
practice primary care for 80% of the role
handle administrative responsibilities for 20%
mentor and coach providers
implement Oak Street Health clinical guidelines
ensure evidence-based medical care
drive implementation of organizational initiatives
manage provider onboarding
conduct performance reviews
support a culture of joy in practice
work closely with Practice Manager and Outreach Manager/Director
Requirements:
M.D., D.O., or A.P.N or P.A. graduates
board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine for M.D. or D.O.
board certification in Family, Adult, or Gerontology for A.P.N
experience in clinical leadership roles
experience using a metrics-driven approach
passionate about their work
commitment to older adults and low-income patients
comfort with ambiguity
ability to problem-solve
5+ years of experience in outpatient practice preferred
US work authorization
Nice to have:
Fellowship training in Geriatrics
other professional degrees (e.g., M.B.A., J.D., M.P.H.)
