Job Description:

The Center Medical Director role at Oak Street Health leads the clinical team in providing the best patient care and creating a great workplace to keep patients happy, healthy and out of the hospital. The position involves 80% clinical time practicing primary care and 20% administrative time with mission-critical leadership responsibilities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead clinical team at center
  • Practice primary care (80% clinical, 20% administrative)
  • Set example for primary care practice
  • Serve as mentor, coach, and advisor to providers
  • Support organizational strategy implementation
  • Drive implementation of strategic initiatives
  • Coordinate onboarding of new providers
  • Ensure evidence-based medical care
  • Implement clinical guidelines
  • Support quality preventative care
  • Educate providers on value-based care model
  • Conduct performance reviews
  • Create positive workplace culture

Requirements:

  • M.D., D.O., or A.P.N or P.A. graduates
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine required for M.D. or D.O.
  • Board certification in Family, Adult, or Gerontology for A.P.N.
  • Experience in clinical leadership roles
  • Experience using a metrics-driven approach to medical care
  • 5+ years of experience in outpatient practice preferred
  • US work authorization

Nice to have:

  • Fellowship training in Geriatrics
  • Other professional degrees (e.g., M.B.A., J.D., M.P.H.)
  • Prior executive roles
