Job Description:

The purpose of the Center Medical Director role at Oak Street Health is to lead the clinical team at their center in providing the best patient care and a great place to work in order to keep patients happy, healthy and out of the hospital. The Medical Director will practice primary care in our clinics alongside their provider colleagues at 80% clinical time and 20% administrative time.

Set example for thoughtful primary care practice
Serve as mentor, coach, and advisor to providers
Participate in organizational-wide strategic initiatives
Support organizational strategy implementation
Drive implementation of strategic initiatives
Cascade organizational information and escalate concerns
Coordinate onboarding of new providers
Model excellent medical care and success in metrics
Support care model implementation
Ensure appropriate evidence-based care
Teach and implement clinical guidelines
Support highest quality preventative care
Educate providers on value-based care model
Assess and address metric performance issues
Create culture of coaching and growth
Conduct performance reviews
Support positive organizational culture

Requirements:

M.D., D.O., or A.P.N or P.A. graduates
Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine required for M.D. or D.O.
Board certification in Family, Adult, or Gerontology for A.P.N.
Experience in clinical leadership roles
Experience using a metrics-driven approach to medical care
Passionate about work and motivated to be part of a fast-growing organization
Awareness of leadership skills and potential for impact
Commitment to older adults and to low-income patients
Comfort with ambiguity and love for problem solving
Ability to remain calm and guide others to solutions
5+ years of experience in outpatient practice preferred
US work authorization

Nice to have:

Fellowship training in Geriatrics
Other professional degrees (e.g., M.B.A., J.D., M.P.H.)
