Operational Engineer – Critical Environment (Data Center). The Operational Engineer supports the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of mission‑critical data center infrastructure. This role is responsible for monitoring, operating, maintaining, and responding to issues across electrical, mechanical, and life‑safety systems to ensure uptime, compliance, and operational excellence in a 24/7 critical environment.
Job Responsibility:
Perform routine operational rounds, log taking, and system checks on critical infrastructure (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, UPS, generators, fire/life safety)
Monitor BMS/EPMS systems, respond to alarms, and escalate abnormal conditions per SOPs and EOPs
Support planned maintenance activities and maintenance windows with strong procedural discipline
Assist with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for equipment and system issues
Coordinate and escort vendors and contractors on site, ensuring work is performed safely and to site standards
Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and shift handovers in accordance with site and client requirements
Adhere strictly to all safety, security, and compliance policies at all times
Requirements:
2+ years of experience in data centers or other critical infrastructure environments (e.g., hospital, manufacturing, utilities, oil & gas)
Working knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical systems supporting critical environments
OSHA or OSHA‑approved NFPA 70E certification (or ability to obtain)
Experience working in 24/7 operations with rotating shifts, nights, weekends, or holidays as required
Strong attention to detail, procedural compliance, and safety‑first mindset
Nice to have:
Electrical or mechanical trade background or technical certification
Experience with UPS systems, generators, switchgear, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, or control systems
Familiarity with hyperscale data center operations and strict change management processes
