Job Description

An Architectural Practice who work on large scale Commercial and Residential newbuild projects, are seeking a CDM Manger to mitigate design stage risk within their portfolio. The successful CDM Manager will be appointed as Principal Designer whilst you work closely with the in-house Architects. Due to the nature of newbuild projects and the Architectural practice, there will be very little, if any, site inspections. They have strong client frameworks across and have a fantastic industry reputation, which will afford the successful CDM Manager the opportunity to be Principal Design on complex and large projects.

Job Responsibility

  • Appointed as Principal Designer
  • Mitigate design stage risk
  • Limit major and all CDM related risk during the design stages
  • Clear communication to ensure handover to Principal Contractor is as effective as possible

Requirements

  • At least 5 years within a CDM Principal Design / Design Risk Management role
  • NEBOSH Construction or a relevant level 3 equivalent H&S / NEBOSH certificate
  • An Architectural degree or higher will be advantageous
  • Experience working for an Architectural Practice will be advantageous

  • Responsible to the project sponsor for the end-to-end delivery of projects
  • Establish a structure and plan for managing the requirements of CDM, Safety, Health & Environment, and contractor control throughout the duration for the project
  • Develop a group of direct and sub-contract resources into a coherent team that delivers the project objectives
  • Lead the delivery of the project with defined objectives and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Preparation of scope briefing documentation, selection of the professional team and Principal Contractor including commercial terms and contractual engagement documentation
  • Develop and maintain an effective and accurate project cost plan, regularly provide updates to stakeholders, value engineer and provide cash flow forecasts
  • Develop a database of contractors having carried out a due diligence exercise to establish that the contractor has a suitable SHE records, relevant insurances, and meets the values expected of a contractor to Bakkavor
  • Lead the installation and commissioning of food and drink processing and packaging equipment, services, and facilities in line with food and health & safety principles
  • Develop and maintain an effective and accurate project timeline, understand how the project interfaces with other projects or the business operation to maintain both the declared project delivery and the business expectations
