Job Description:

A respected, multidisciplinary design and building consultancy is looking for a CDM Consultant / Principal Designer to join its Preston team. You will take responsibility for CDM consultancy and Principal Designer duties, ensuring health and safety is fully integrated from concept through to completion, and that all projects meet legislative and best practice standards.

Job Responsibility:

  • Act as Principal Designer under CDM 2015, leading CDM compliance for a variety of projects
  • Prepare and manage pre-construction information, health and safety files, and design risk registers
  • Facilitate design risk workshops and hazard identification sessions with project teams
  • Carry out site audits, monitor contractor performance and advise on corrective actions
  • Provide training, toolbox talks and CPD on CDM-related matters
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and design teams to embed health & safety throughout project lifecycles
  • Support and mentor junior team members

Requirements:

  • Solid experience delivering Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015
  • Strong understanding of construction health & safety legislation and how it applies practically on live projects
  • A recognised H&S qualification (such as NEBOSH Construction, IOSH, or APS membership)
  • Confidence working with clients, contractors, and design teams – able to communicate clearly and influence effectively
