Job Description:

A respected, multidisciplinary design and building consultancy is looking for a CDM Consultant/Principal Designer to join its Manchester team. The successful candidate will support CDM consultancy and Principal Designer duties, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and working closely with clients, contractors, and design teams.

Job Responsibility:

  • Act as Principal Designer under CDM 2015, leading CDM compliance for a variety of projects
  • Prepare and manage pre-construction information, health and safety files, and design risk registers
  • Facilitate design risk workshops and hazard identification sessions with project teams
  • Carry out site audits, monitor contractor performance and advise on corrective actions
  • Provide training, toolbox talks and CPD on CDM-related matters
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and design teams to embed health & safety throughout project lifecycles
  • Support and mentor junior team members.

Requirements:

  • Solid experience delivering Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015
  • Strong understanding of construction health & safety legislation and how it applies practically on live projects
  • A recognised H&S qualification (such as NEBOSH Construction, IOSH, or APS membership)
  • Confidence working with clients, contractors, and design teams – able to communicate clearly and influence effectively
  • Organised and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple projects at different stages.
