Job Description:

Halvor Lines is recruiting experienced drivers to provide on-the-job truck driver training to students who have earned their CDL and are ready to hit the road with an experienced truck driver.

Job Responsibility:

  • Reinforcing safe driving techniques demonstrated during initial Halvor training, including observing speed limits, traffic signs, etc.
  • Coaching and helping drivers enhance their backing skills in real-word settings
  • Conducting thorough pre-trip inspections, including tire pressure and tire wear, air hose wear and rubbing, etc.
  • Trip and route planning, with a focus on the importance of on-time deliveries and staying within federal HOS regulations
  • Tips for maximizing use of Halvor’s electronic logging devices (ELDs)
  • Enhancing skills related to the division you are running, e.g. load securement for flatbed, monitoring and adjusting refrigerated trailer temps for reefer, etc.
  • Reinforcing the importance of regular communication with dispatch and safety
  • Customer service skills and communication with shippers
  • Conducting weekly evaluations of your trainees
  • Build your skills and connect with other trainers at annual trainer meetings

Requirements:

  • A valid CDL
  • 90 days of employment with Halvor Lines as a professional driver
  • A solid safety record
  • Demonstrated compliance with federal Hours of Service (HOS) regulations
  • Reliable, on-time deliveries
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Meeting Halvor’s fuel compliance standards
