VACANCY – CCGT Power Station Operations Manager Berakas Power Company Sdn Bhd (BPC), a Power Utility Company operating within Brunei Darussalam, is currently seeking to recruit a suitably qualified candidate for the post of Power Station Operations Manager We are seeking a highly skilled Power Station Operations Manager to lead the Operations team for a new 132 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) plant, currently under construction and equipped with Siemens SGT-800 gas turbine technology. This is a unique opportunity to take a senior role in a state of the art, high-efficiency, power generation facility from construction through to commercial operation and beyond.

Job Responsibility

  • Establish and recruit an Operations team, ensuring all personnel are qualified and competent – Shift Charge Engineers, Operators, Plant Chemist
  • Develop and implement all required operation documentation, including: Policies and Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Operation Logs and reports, Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) PTW system, Emergency Response procedures
  • Support the Owners Engineers in reviewing engineering deliverables, technical specifications, and contractor submissions
  • Identify and acquire all tools and test equipment required by the operations department including for the Water Treatment Plant and Lab
  • Manage the participation of the operations team in commissioning, performance testing, and plant start-up activities, ensuring alignment with OEM and project requirements
  • Ensure operational readiness for plant takeover
  • Lead a team of skilled operational personnel in the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the CCGT power station
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and safety standards
  • Manage the PTW system
  • Ensure that the plant operates at its maximum availability and reliability
  • Lead in troubleshooting and perform root cause analysis during unplanned events
  • Work with plant maintenance personnel and other related personnel in scheduling equipment outages
  • Manage the operations department support required for the execution of the Long Term Program (LTP) with Siemens Energy for the maintenance of the SGT-800 gas turbine units in preparation for COD
  • Develop and manage the plants operation budget, reporting, KPI’s and performance analytics
  • Inspire, mentor, and develop a talented and capable team of operators

Requirements

  • Recognized Engineering Degree or equivalent qualifications and/or experience acceptable to the Company
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in a senior level position at a power station
  • or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • In depth knowledge of CCGT power generation technology, including combustion and steam turbines, HRSG’s, ACC, water treatment plant and other general auxiliary equipment and systems
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated leadership with excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and team management skills
  • Proactive, pragmatic and results oriented
  • Evaluates own behavior and personal impact and demonstrate an adaptive management style with ability to adapt to different cultures
  • Proficient command of the English language, both spoken and written

Nice to have

  • Previous experience with Siemens SGT-800 gas turbines
  • Previous experience working outside native country or region, proven ability to deliver results in a multi cultural environment
