Job Description:

Sheffield Community CAMHS is a dedicated, multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care across two sites - Centenary House and The Becton Centre. We work to share knowledge, expertise, and resources, ensuring collaborative and comprehensive support for children, young people, and families. We are looking for an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist to join our dynamic service. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver specialist CBT interventions across diverse settings including clinics, schools, and home environments.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver high-quality individual and group CBT interventions
  • Undertake specialist assessments and therapeutic work
  • Provide consultation and advice to colleagues and carers
  • Foster strong working relationships within the MDT
  • Supervise and support trainee and qualified clinicians in CBT
  • Contribute to training, service development, and continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, or a qualified family therapist
  • CBT accreditation with the BABCP - with a focus on CBT with children and young adults
  • Registration with the HCPC as a Clinical Psychologist, or other relevant professional body
  • Experience of specialist CBT assessment and therapeutic interventions with children and young people with psychological and mental health problems and their families in physical health settings
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of child mental health problems across the full age range, reflecting all levels of severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
  • Commitment to multi-disciplinary team working - team player
  • Skills in working with complex cases and being able to use CBT in an integrated way with other interventions if necessary
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional & non-professional groups
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Nice to have:

  • Additional training in CBP with children and in young people with ASD
  • Experience of working within the area of speciality
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
  • Experience of the application of CBT in different cultural contexts
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
  • Formal training in supervision of other therapists
