About the Role Constellation - Catering Assistant Location: The Cathedral School, Llandaff – Cardiff Employment Type: Shifts offered on casual based during the week from Monday to Friday Constellation are currently recruiting enthusiastic and reliable Catering Assistants to join the catering team at The Cathedral School, Llandaff — a highly regarded coeducational private day school located in the historic district of Llandaff, Cardiff. About the Role As a Catering Assistant, you will support the smooth day-to-day running of the school catering service. You will assist with food preparation, service, cleaning duties, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and customer service throughout the dining areas and kitchen facilities. The role requires someone who is hardworking, organised, and able to work efficiently within a busy catering environment while maintaining a positive and professional attitude. Key Responsibilities Assist with the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and beverages Set up and replenish food counters and dining areas Provide friendly and professional customer service to pupils, staff, and visitors Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining, and food preparation areas Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment Support stock rotation and storage procedures Follow all food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety regulations Assist the kitchen team during busy meal service periods Operate tills and handle payments where required Ensure dining areas remain clean, tidy, and welcoming Support special school events, hospitality, and functions when required Essential Requirements Good communication and interpersonal skills Positive attitude and strong work ethic Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Reliable, punctual, and flexible approach to work Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good understanding of cleanliness and hygiene standards Professional and friendly manner when interacting with pupils and staff Desirable Experience Previous catering, hospitality, or food service experience Basic Food Hygiene Certificate Experience working within a school, education, or childcare environment Safeguarding Commitment The Cathedral School, Llandaff is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
