We’re looking for a Category Manager to take full ownership of a defined product category and lead its commercial growth across eCommerce and B2B channels. This hands-on role balances optimising the existing range while building the pipeline for tomorrow, tackling dormant categories and driving supplier engagement. You’ll work cross-functionally with product development, supplier sourcing, global sales, marketing, and customer success teams, managing relationships with suppliers. Based in Auckland, this highly autonomous role also involves travel to trade shows, Hong Kong and other global events to ensure the category remains competitive, challenged and growing.
Job Responsibility:
Full commercial ownership of a defined product category, driving growth, profitability and adoption
Optimise existing range and build a pipeline for future opportunities, including challenging dormant categories
Analyse category performance, market trends and competitor activity to guide decisions
Work closely with global and local teams to ensure alignment and execution of category strategy
Manage product lifecycle from development to launch, collaborating with cross-functional teams across NZ, HK and global sales
Travel occasionally for supplier meetings and trade shows
Act as the internal champion for your category, ensuring alignment and delivery across teams
Requirements:
5+ years’ experience in category management, product management, or a related commercial role
Physical product experience with strong supplier negotiation and commercial acumen
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage product lifecycle independently
Autonomous, proactive and agile, comfortable in a small team environment with high standards
Values-driven
Comfortable working and collaborating with offshore teams
Based in Auckland and able to work on-site 5 days a week
