Aurizon is seeking an experienced Category Lead to join the Procurement & Enterprise Services team on a 2‑year fixed‑term contract, covering a period of maternity leave. This role is ideal for a commercially strong procurement professional with excellent project management capability, who enjoys working across complex, enterprise‑wide initiatives and partnering closely with the business to deliver outcomes.
Job Responsibility:
Lead end‑to‑end source‑to‑contract activities, including sourcing strategy development, negotiation, contract execution and supplier performance management
Act as the Category relationship lead for Freight & Logistics, partnering with senior stakeholders to understand business objectives and manage commercial risk
Drive project‑based procurement outcomes, supporting strategic, growth and transformation initiatives across the business
Manage Tier 1 supplier relationships, ensuring strong commercial outcomes, performance, compliance and value delivery
Identify and deliver cost savings, commercial benefits and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, corporate governance and procurement frameworks
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in a Category Lead, Senior Procurement or Commercial leadership role, ideally within a large or complex organisation
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, shifting priorities and stakeholder expectations
Proven ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders across the business
Solid commercial acumen with experience in negotiation, contract management and supplier performance
Experience leading and developing teams
Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce or a related field
Nice to have:
Experience as a Procurement or Supply Chain consultant at a Tier 1 or 2 professional services firm will be highly regarded
