Purina’s Sales Category team plays a critical role in driving growth across our retail partners by turning complex data into clear, actionable insights. In this role, you’ll analyze large datasets, build category and shopper insights, and translate findings into strong omnichannel business plans, assortment recommendations, and shelf strategies. You’ll partner closely with Category Managers and cross‑functional teams to evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and support execution at the customer level. Through hands‑on analytics, strategic storytelling, and collaboration, you’ll help grow sales, market share, and profitability—while contributing to Purina’s continued leadership in the pet care industry.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver clear, consistent 4P category analysis to support business decisions
Analyze large retail datasets (POS, syndicated, loyalty) to answer business questions and recommend actions using tools such as regression and clustering
Build and maintain Power BI/Tableau dashboards and recurring reports
use advanced Excel and Power Query to manage and validate data from multiple sources
Translate shopper and store data into actionable insights, including shopper segmentation, store and micro‑cluster opportunity sizing, and tailored assortment and space recommendations
Evaluate shelf sets and planograms using metrics like sales and profit per foot
identify underperforming space and recommend layout improvements (training on space tools provided)
Improve efficiency of recurring analytics by creating reusable templates, queries, and light automation
Ensure accuracy and clarity of insights by testing assumptions, validating results, and clearly communicating the “so what” to stakeholders
Own modular (planogram) item maintenance to ensure ongoing data integrity
Support the development and execution of omnichannel category strategies, incorporating market, competitive, and shopper trends
Partner with Category Managers to deliver omnichannel category and brand analysis for retail customers
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree +1 year experience working with retail/sales data or within a CPG environment OR High School diploma +4 years experience in category development, business analytics or marketing
Nice to have:
1+ years of experience in Microsoft self-service platform (Power Bi, Power Automate, Power Apps, Databricks), SAP, and Business Objects
