Casual Telemedicine Coordinator Assistant position at La Verendrye General Hospital, part of Riverside Health Care. The role involves assisting with telemedicine initiatives, promoting telemedicine use, monitoring patient appointments, and supporting clinical videoconferencing activities.
Job Responsibility:
Assist the telemedicine coordinator with the development, delivery and monitoring of high-quality organizational telemedicine initiatives for the corporation.
Promote the use of telemedicine to healthcare professionals, patients and the community on behalf of the corporation.
Monitor the day-to-day function of patient appointments in the Telemedicine Units.
Assist the telemedicine coordinator with ongoing clinical videoconferencing activities and associated administrative processes including scheduling and supervision of telemedicine service delivery.
Maintain current knowledge base with respect to the field of telemedicine and telemedicine activities.
Maintains CNO Standards of Practice
Follows policies and procedures as set out by the corporation
Maintains competence in all clinical skills pertaining to his/her areas of work
Promotes a multi-disciplinary approach to client and family-centred care
Facilitates patient/family education
Communicates effectively with all providers of care
Utilizes the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care on an ongoing basis. Co-ordinates planning of individual care plans with all disciplines and care providers

Will cover vacation requests received by telemedicine coordinator, as well as days when additional assistance is required
Participates in Regional Telemedicine activities as delegated
Has knowledge of and collaborates with other community organizations and services to improve client care or provide continuing care
Has a good working relationship with Regional Telehealth staff, physicians and Telehealth specialists. Collaborates to provide optimal utilization of services to provide the highest levels of care
Cooperates with other agencies in education regarding services and care available in the community
Participates in the hospital accreditation process and quality improvement initiatives
Provides input into plans for purchase of telemedicine equipment
Ensures adequate supplies and equipment are available for daily patient care
Ensures he/she is appropriately educated in the use of all equipment prior to using and cares for all equipment
Initiates and follows up with maintenance and/or repairs of equipment as necessary
Reports any equipment problems/failure to the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) Help Desk
Develop expertise in the use and care of Telemedicine equipment
Participates on teams/committees within the organization as requested/required
Support regular nurse participation in OTN training sessions, monthly meetings, and in the development and sharing of telemedicine best practices, support program monitoring and evaluation activities with OTN partners and/or the LHIN
Collection and reporting of required monthly telemedicine statistics and workload for the corporation
Requirements:
Graduate of a Registered Practical Nursing Program and current Certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
