The Security department has an opening for a Casual Security Guard. Security Guards at Riverside Health Care Facilities will report directly to the Security Coordinator and be responsible for ensuring a healthy and safe environment for the hospital staff, patients, volunteers, physicians and visitors. They will monitor the buildings and grounds for any hazards and deal with them appropriately. They will perform all their duties to the highest possible standards in a courteous, effective, and professional manner at all times.
Job Responsibility:
Attend departmental briefings and report any incidents or concerns concerning the last shift
Accurately maintain and keep Notebooks, Security Logs and Incident Reports
Report & record all events regarding unauthorized personnel
Report & record all events regarding criminal acts / Misconduct and breaches of policy and procedures
Patrol all buildings, hallways, entrance ways, stairwells and grounds of LVGH
Maintain Situational Awareness during patrols and interactions with all people
Observe and report any defects or hazards to the Security Manager or Maintenance
Work in conjunction with Law Enforcement and Government Agencies
Attend Court / Legal proceedings when required
Enforce No-Smoking Policy for staff, patients and visitors
Monitor and patrol the exterior grounds and parking areas
Conduct security escorts for staff to and from parking when requested
Respond quickly to Hospital Codes, maintain communications
Assist Staff in the use of the PINEL restraint system as required
Monitor Form 1 patients if deemed a threat / Flight Risk
Follow procedures complete searches of belongings, to prevent contraband, where required. While adhering to proper procedures and laws
Monitor CCTV for unusual activity
Maintain Confidentiality and professionalism
Maintain required training certifications: Use of Force, Communications, PINEL restraints, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Security License, etc
Requirements:
Graduate of Community College Law and Security / Police Foundations program, OR graduate of recognized Emergency Services training facility, and/or 3-5 years of experience of Tactical Security OR Healthcare Security
Valid Security Guard License
Valid Ontario “G” Class Driver’s License
3 years of previous experience in dealing with the public in a law enforcement / Security role – preferred
Use of Force and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is considered an asset

Attention to detail and have the ability to perform required abilities
Physically able to perform the essential duties of this role
Testing will be based off of the PIN test requiring a 75% minimum score
Testing includes Push-ups / Flexibility / Core Endurance / 2.4 Km run
