Job Description:

At Elizabeth Knox Home & Hospital, nursing is more than clinical practice - it is partnership, leadership, and compassionate care. We are currently seeking Casual Registered Nurses to cover leave. At Elizabeth Knox Home & Hospital you will have the opportunity to get to know your team and residents and to contribute to the multidisciplinary team. You will have the opportunity to coordinate a skilled team of Care Partners. You will be supported to succeed.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred nursing care
  • Recognise and respond promptly to changes in residents’ health status
  • Safely administer and evaluate medications
  • Provide wound care, pressure injury prevention, and continence management
  • Implement falls prevention strategies while promoting independence
  • Maintain infection prevention and restraint minimisation practices
  • Support residents’ nutritional wellbeing
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised clinical environment
  • Use resources responsibly and minimise waste
  • Act as a Care Coach to residents and Care Partners
  • Work collaboratively with medical practitioners and allied health professionals
  • Partner with families in care planning and advance care discussions
  • Contribute to team coordination and roster input
  • Escalate and respond to risks and concerns appropriately
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessment
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with HDSS and Nursing Council of New Zealand standards

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from a recognised institution
  • Current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council
  • Minimum 2 - 3 years of nursing experience in New Zealand
  • Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills
  • Eligible to live and work in New Zealand permanently

  • Performs according to the Standards of Nursing Practice set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario and in compliance with the policies, procedures and standards of Riverside Health Care Facilities
  • Accepts clinical responsibility and professional accountability for the care delivered to assigned residents
  • Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, fulfilling responsibilities as a member of the nursing discipline
  • Complies with The Ethical Framework for Nurses in Ontario (College of Nurses of Ontario)
  • Provides nursing care to residents whose physical, mental, social and emotional needs are stabilized
  • Assists the Registered Nurse with the care of the resident whose needs are not stabilized
  • Assists the Registered Nurse with the assessment and development of the residents’ physical, mental, social and emotional needs, the plan of nursing care and evaluation of the nursing care plans (Nursing Process.)
  • Observes signs and symptoms pertinent to the residents’ conditions and reports any changes to the Registered Nurse on duty
  • Performs those procedures for which he or she has been prepared during his/her RPN training program and service training program and assumes responsibility for the nursing care, direction and guidance in the case of the absence of a Registered Nurse on duty
