Job Description:

Responsible for planning and designing new software and web applications. Analyzes, tests and assists with the integration of new applications. Documents all development activity. Assists with training non-technical personnel. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Job Responsibility:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Cassandra clusters
  • Manage replication strategies, consistency levels, and data partitioning
  • Monitor cluster health and performance using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, OpsCenter
  • Analyze query performance and optimize data access patterns
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks and hotspots
  • Conduct benchmarking and tuning exercises
  • Implement authentication, authorization, and encryption
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and security standards
  • Design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies
  • Test restore procedures and maintain recovery documentation
  • Respond to incidents and alerts
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams
  • Automate administrative tasks using Bash, Ansible, Python, or similar scripting languages
  • Work closely with application developers, SREs, and infrastructure teams to support data needs
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs and engineers
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident management
  • Deploy and manage Cassandra on AWS/Openstack using Terraform

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Cassandra administration
  • Strong understanding of Cassandra internals, architecture, and NoSQL principles
  • Experience with Linux/Unix systems
  • Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and DevOps tools (Terraform, Git, Ansible)
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, CAP theorem, and NoSQL data modeling
  • Experience with tools like nodetool, cqlsh, Scylla Manager, and Prometheus/Grafana
  • Proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting
  • Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and logging tools
