A commercial real estate organization with a diverse portfolio is seeking an experienced Cash Application Specialist to join its Accounts Receivable team. This role reports to the Accounts Receivable Manager and plays a key part in ensuring accurate cash posting, reconciliations, and tenant account management across multiple property types.
Job Responsibility:
Apply daily cash receipts from tenants and vendors across commercial, residential, and retail portfolios
Post and reconcile monthly subsidy payments for residential tenants
Process returned or rejected payments and resolve related discrepancies
Prepare and reconcile bank deposits to ensure accuracy and completeness
Assist with the month-end accounts receivable close process
Track and support miscellaneous billings related to government agencies, including invoice submission and follow-up
Identify delinquent or insufficient payments by preparing and analyzing recurring cash and aging reports
Perform full account reconciliations and investigate variances
Partner closely with property management teams to support the collection of outstanding balances
Serve as a point of contact for tenants regarding billing inquiries, documentation requests, and payment discrepancies
Respond to internal and external audit requests and provide supporting documentation as needed
Ensure adherence to established accounting procedures, policies, and internal controls
Manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Support additional accounting projects and ad hoc initiatives as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
bachelor’s degree preferred
Minimum of 4+ years of accounts receivable experience, preferably within commercial real estate or property management
Strong proficiency in Excel and spreadsheet-based analysis
Experience with real estate accounting or property management systems strongly preferred (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar)
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accountable for accuracy and timeliness of work
Proactive, self-directed team player with strong follow-through
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable interacting with tenants, property management teams, and internal stakeholders at all levels
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet daily, monthly, and ad hoc deadlines
