We are looking for a highly motivated Cash Application Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Oak Brook, Illinois. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accurate and timely application of incoming payments while maintaining organized financial records. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, contributing to the success of the accounts receivable process.
Job Responsibility:
Reconcile payment remittance advices with actual payments to ensure accuracy and proper allocation
Update accounts receivable records in the AS400 system by reviewing payment remittances and supporting documentation
Maintain well-organized files and records for payments and related documents to streamline retrieval and review processes
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payment applications with both internal teams and external customers
Assist with month-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to improve accounts receivable processes and workflows
Provide support for audit requests by managing and supplying documentation as needed
Monitor and report on cash application metrics to maintain efficiency and accuracy
Communicate professionally with customers and colleagues to resolve issues and maintain positive relationships
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts receivable, with a focus on cash applications and collections
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve discrepancies using strong investigative and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging effectively across all organizational levels
Proficiency in basic accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures
Capacity to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing financial records and processes
Experience with cash applications, payment posting, and reconciliation processes
Nice to have:
Familiarity with AS400 system is preferred, along with expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
