Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Caseworker to join our Multicrime team based at our office in Basingstoke. This role is fully office based and regular travel throughout Hampshire will be required. As a Caseworker, you will provide structured, tailored support plans based on holistic assessments for individuals affected by crime. You will make initial contact with victims via the telephone, then tailor the support to them explaining our services, and assessing the impact of crime. Your responsibilities will include developing, delivering, and monitoring safety and support plans, providing resources, interventions, and information to service users.

Job Responsibility

  • Make calls to offer support to victims of crime, delivering immediate support
  • Develop, deliver and monitor safety and support plans for those affected by crime who accept ongoing support, which will include providing resources, interventions, and information to all service users
  • Work alongside and oversee the casework management of a small number of volunteer supporters
  • Liaise and actively engage with other local providers to share information on the VS service offer and options for victims and survivors
  • Use a bespoke case management system to maintain accurate and confidential records and contribute to monitoring information including the collection of outcomes
  • Working as part of a team with staff and the volunteer team to provide a seamless service to clients

Requirements

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT skills, including the ability to navigate and utilise bespoke case management systems effectively and an ability to use Microsoft Office applications to a high standard
  • Good organisational & time management skills, able to manage competing needs and priorities
  • To work effectively both as part of a team & independently
  • To develop & maintain partnerships with internal & external organisations
  • The ability to maintain professional boundaries & confidentiality
  • Personal resilience to manage exposure to highly emotional or sensitive demands of the role
  • A driving license and access to a vehicle considered an essential requirement

  • Undertake risk and needs assessments to address the specific needs of the victim in line with VS operating procedures
  • Follow relevant safeguarding policies and procedures, working with safeguarding leads and other agencies to ensure an integrated approach to address any safeguarding concerns
  • Provide information and advocacy to enable service users to navigate and understand the criminal justice process and ensure their rights are upheld in accordance with the Victims Code of Practice
  • Identify barriers to individuals accessing our services and determine solutions. Working with existing multi-agency partners to which victims can be referred for ongoing and specialist support
  • To work alongside a team of staff and volunteers to reflect the diverse community and the needs of the victims, including those with particular vulnerabilities, to deliver individual, bespoke services with respect, dignity and sensitivity
