Job Description:

Westhaven is seeking a dedicated Caseworker to support and advocate for Children and Young People living with significant disability to live life the way they choose. As a Caseworker you will coordinate casework responsibilities for children and young people (CYP) within Westhaven, specifically working as part of a Therapeutic Care Team.

Job Responsibility:

  • Work as part of a Therapeutic Care Team, managing the casework cycle for children and young people in care
  • Ensure Case Plans are developed, reviewed and implemented within set timeframes
  • Maintain regular contact with children and young people, seek their views and opinions and monitor their wellbeing
  • Ensure that data is collected and recorded in a timely way
  • Ensure that Casework is conducted consistent with the requirements of the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a relevant Behavioural Science
  • or be of Indigenous decent and be willing to obtain qualifications
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the Children and Young Person (Care and Protection) Act 1998, NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care and trauma informed practices
  • Understand the supports and issues of children and young people living with significant disabilities
  • Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal communities, families and children specifically in relation to the placement of Aboriginal children and young people in OOHC
  • A current NSW Driver’s licence
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a National Disability Insurance Scheme Workers Check (NDISWC)
