The Transport Solutions team is a local team based in Berlin. The team takes care of all actions and issues concerning middle mile transport (line hauling) across Europe covering 27 countries using in excess of 30+ linehaul carriers. It covers different transport flows including Outbound Transports, Internal Transports and Return Transports. Reporting to the Head of Transport Solutions, this is a single contributor role initially. You are supporting the overall goal to get all orders delivered fast, on time and at the lowest costs to the last mile carriers in the destination countries for delivery to end-customers.
Job Responsibility:
responsible for the linehaul carrier allocation to transport lanes
securing sufficient carrier capacity in line with business needs
the weekly/monthly linehaul carrier performance management process
preparing/holding QBRs with our key linehaul providers
identify key lanes subject to underperformance, perform required root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions to improve performance
identify and drive key initiatives in order to improve costs and customer experience (CX)
partner with external colleagues such as Controlling and Warehousing as well as internal colleagues from Team Transport
work closely with carriers and contribute in growing our network
work in projects to improve costs and customer experience
exchange best practices with other Zalando teams
onboard new countries' carriers and services
Requirements:
degree in supply chain management, logistics management, economics or similar disciplines
several years of experience in a logistics & supply chain-related environment, preferably linehaul management, e-commerce is a plus, ideally with previous leadership and project management experience
detail-oriented with a strong analytical mindset and financial awareness with excellent knowledge in Office skills
high level of Ownership and Bias for Action, strong motivation, with a strong drive for Continuous Improvement, who enjoys working independently as well as in a team and across teams
ability to interact & communicate with various stakeholders at all levels in order to foster close collaboration & negotiations
languages English fluent, German would be a plus and any other European language would be valued positively
