Job Description:

A Carrier Assembly Operator is responsible for assembling new and/or replacement parts by operating intermediate stations and equipment to assemble complete units or complex subassemblies from electrical diagrams.

Job Responsibility:

  • Know, understand, and comply with the safety policies and procedures
  • Meet daily KPI’s
  • Perform assembly operations of electronic components or subassemblies
  • Independent monitoring and operation of the production equipment
  • Auditing the equipment for proper functioning, maintain fluid levels and reporting deviations
  • Maintenance and cleaning of equipment, work area and facility based on 5s standards
  • Load/unload stations using proper handling equipment
  • Maintain quality standards by following proper inspection procedure, while also adhering to current quality and control policies
  • Assemble cell pairs and modules using hand tools, power tools or automated machines
  • Understand and read plans and diagrams regarding the technical aspects of batteries to comprehend specifications and requirements
  • Measure voltage, current, resistance or other electrical characteristics by using electrical measuring equipment such as multimeters, voltmeters, and ammeters
  • Assemble cell pairs and modules in accordance with approved BorgWarner work instructions
  • May install multi-level subassemblies and modules into pallets
  • Use appropriate hold tags to process and sort defective parts through nonconforming material procedure
  • Maintain compliance with good manufacturing practices and facilitate 5S standard in production area
  • Compliance with BorgWarner beliefs of Inclusion, Integrity, Excellence, Responsibility and Collaboration
  • Overtime may be required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School diploma/GED required, or basic skills assessment required
  • 1+ year of working in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience in fast paced industrial lean environment preferred
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Experience with simple hand tools with/without power or special assembly tools preferred
  • Experience with troubleshooting machines/equipment preferred
  • Experience of using electrical test equipment such as voltmeter, resistance testers
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Moderate to steady lifting up to 35 lbs
  • Repetitive use of hands and wrist
  • Moderate to high degree of standing, walking, stooping, or kneeling, close eye work, reaching, pulling, or pushing
  • Ability to operate and multi-task between 2 to 3 stations
  • Able to crouch, bend, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces
  • Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color and depth variations and small details visually

  • Determine loading requirements to rig equipment and material for lifting
  • Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes

  • At the end of each day all work areas shall be organized, garbage and flammables removed, floors swept and benches and surfaces wiped down
