ESI's Carpenter performs entry-level carpentry work in constructing, repairing, and maintaining structures, furniture, and fixtures; works with a variety of materials; assists experienced carpenters and ensures compliance with safety standards. This position is based on a project site in Modesto, CA.
Job Responsibility:
Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA standards
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety practices on-site
Assist in verifying the trueness of structures
Assist in selecting and preparing materials using tools such as saws, Sawzall, drills, impact drivers, and grinders under supervision
Assemble and secure materials with nails, screws, dowel pins, or glue
Construct frameworks, subflooring, partitions, millwork, and fixtures with guidance from experienced carpenters
Install backing, blocking, plywood doors, and other structural components as instructed
Assist Superintendents and General Foremen as needed
Work varying shifts based on project requirements
Measure, cut, and shape materials with guidance
Participate in small teams or assist in large-scale projects to ensure timely completion
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
Ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to design specifications
Assist in inspecting completed work under supervision to identify and address errors or deficiencies in Quality Assurance and Quality Control
Perform general maintenance and repair tasks assigned
Assist other trades as needed to support department or project goals
Requirements:
One or more years of experience in the construction industry (laborer or higher)
Basic knowledge of building construction, materials, means and methods
Demonstrates reliability, respect, and self-discipline
Personal motivation, initiative, and potential for growth
Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams to plan and accomplish goals
Effective and professional communication and interaction with supervisors, employees, and others, whether individually or in a team environment, are vital aspects of the role
Adherence to safety protocols and the ability to follow oral and written instructions, including equipment guidelines, and company policies, are necessary to perform work safely and effectively
