Job Description

The Carpenter I, under the supervision of the Fabrication Department manager and foremen, is responsible for performing basic carpentry work on custom exhibits, cabinetry and scenery using industrial woodworking machinery and materials according to specifications and drawings provided by the Manager - Fabrication and the project team. This position reports to the Manager, Fabrication.

Job Responsibility

  • Assist in the construction and assembly of carpentry projects into quality exhibits and displays using shop drawings and verbal instructions
  • Operate a variety of woodworking machinery including sliding table saw, compound miter saw, band saw, jointer, planer as well as various hand tools
  • Verify all calculations to ensure alignment of all components
  • Meet tight deadlines without sacrificing quality
  • Other duties assigned
  • Follow all applicable OSHA and corporate safety protocols and regulations
  • Maintain a safe working environment by maintaining a clean, organized workspace

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1-3 years of experience in basic carpentry
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of current production standard operating, procedures, safety protocols, materials, and installation methods
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and through computers, apps, and relevant software
  • Experience at working in a collaborative team environment

  • Load and unload materials, debris, and other construction items
  • Follow grade stakes and interpret site plans, blueprints, and project layout
  • Maintain accurate logs and equipment use records
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including use of PPE and awareness of surroundings
  • Identify and report mechanical issues or safety hazards to supervisors immediately
  • Support concrete crews with equipment tasks as needed, including pouring assistance, hoisting, and transporting materials
