Job Description

We are growing - join our Defence division at Service Stream supporting the PAS contract. We are proud to become a new Australian Department of Defence partner, offering career opportunities to support the delivery of Property and Asset Services across South Australia and the Northern Territory. We have multiple opportunities available for Trades Assistants / Carpenters to join our Defence division and support with this contract. This position will be located at Larrakeyah Defence Precinct.

Job Responsibility

  • Assisting tradespeople with tasks such as measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing materials
  • Preparing and cleaning work areas, ensuring tools and equipment are ready for use
  • Performing general maintenance tasks including patching, painting, tiling, and minor plumbing work
  • Loading, transporting, and organising materials and supplies on-site
  • Operating basic hand and power tools under supervision
  • Performing general labouring duties including lifting, digging, and site clean-up
  • Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a construction, maintenance, or industrial environment
  • Hands-on exposure to assisting qualified trades such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers, or landscapers, or be a qualified Carpenter
  • Familiarity with using basic hand and power tools
  • Experience performing manual labour tasks such as lifting, digging, or site clean-up
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work safely on active job sites
  • Experience working as part of a team in fast-paced or physically demanding settings
  • White Card
  • Must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance
