Good understanding of health and safety responsibilities

Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks

Job Responsibility

Open and close the school site each day, ensuring all buildings are secure
Conduct regular security checks, including alarm systems, gates and external doors
Act as a key holder and respond to call-outs outside normal hours when needed
Monitor health and safety standards and report hazards or maintenance issues
Support emergency procedures (fire drills, evacuation routes, etc.)
Carry out minor repairs and maintenance, such as: Replacing light bulbs, fixing door handles, unblocking sinks, repainting small areas
Conduct routine checks of heating, lighting, plumbing and ventilation systems
Perform basic grounds maintenance (sweeping paths, clearing leaves, gritting in winter)
Keep maintenance logs up to date and report larger issues to management or contractors
Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of key areas such as entrances, corridors and outdoor spaces

Knowledge of: Building, Fire & H & S regulations
Practical maintenance ability and some knowledge of plumbing and electrics

Site services and their location and isolation points
Breakdowns, faults and repairs – identification and calling out of appropriate contractor

Job Responsibility

Maintain the buildings and amenities of the school, effecting all necessary repairs and improvements
Monitor all works related to grounds maintenance
ensuring that specified standards are achieved and that contract compliance is obtained
Organise and supervise the work of the cleaning staff on the school site, including arranging work schedules, monitoring cleaning duties, ordering supplies of cleaning materials and other caretaking materials, opening and closing of the site, Water testing and fire alarm testing

A full driving licence is essential, and you must be 25 or over due to insurance
You will need previous experience in a Caretaker / Handy Person role
Ideally you will have basic experience of plumbing and carpentry
You will be required to travel to two additional sites outside of Kent once a month

Job Responsibility

Maintaining general appearance and tidiness of external and internal areas
Perform preventative maintenance tasks regularly
Carry out basic carpentry fixes such as fitting doors and fire door adjustments
Carry out basic plumbing tasks such as repairing leaks and changing taps
Complete regular inspections of building and reporting any issues to the Facilities Manager

Deliver projects from start to finish which can vary from small maintenance through to full office refurbishments projects

Monitor the building's security, including locking/unlocking doors and ensuring access control
