Birmingham Central United Synagogue is a friendly, welcoming and inclusive orthodox congregation, established over 130 years ago, where everyone is made to feel comfortable, whatever their background or level of observance. Our ‘state of the art’ modern synagogue, banqueting suite, community deli and mikvah are on site in Edgbaston, close to the city centre, major road and rail links. We are looking to appoint a flexible, hard-working, enthusiastic, reliable, honest and committed Caretaker with excellent attention to detail, who will ensure that our community building is a safe, clean and secure environment. You will have a positive approach to this key role.

Job Responsibility:

  • Keeping the building clean, safe and tidy
  • Key holder and responsible for site security
  • Routine repair and maintenance
  • Liaison with contractors
  • Supporting health and safety in liaison with the H&S Officer of the United Synagogue

  • Perform basic grounds maintenance (sweeping paths, clearing leaves, gritting in winter)
