An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and reliable Caretaker to join a busy Housing Services team in East London on an ongoing contract basis. This role is ideal for a proactive individual with a strong commitment to maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming environments for residents and visitors. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring communal areas and estates are maintained to a high standard while providing excellent customer service.
Job Responsibility
Carry out regular inspections of communal areas, estates, and buildings
Ensure communal areas are kept clean, safe, and free from hazards
Undertake minor repairs and maintenance tasks where appropriate
Report repairs, defects, health and safety concerns, and anti-social behaviour issues
Monitor and maintain estate facilities, equipment, and communal services
Manage refuse and recycling areas, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with organisational standards
Liaise with residents, contractors, and colleagues professionally and effectively
Conduct health and safety checks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
Assist with access arrangements for contractors and service providers when required
Requirements
Previous experience working as a Caretaker, Estate Caretaker, Facilities Assistant, or in a similar role
Good understanding of health and safety procedures within residential or public sector environments
Ability to carry out basic maintenance and repair tasks
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
