Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Caretaker to provide a safe, secure and clean living environment for tenants within Housing with Care, Housing with Support schemes and general needs flat blocks.

Job Responsibility:

  • Undertake basic maintenance and simple DIY tasks within communal areas and properties
  • Carry out routine cleaning duties, including communal areas and window cleaning where required
  • Conduct regular checks on lighting, security features, and general condition of the scheme
  • Maintain good working relationships with tenants, providing a helpful and professional service
  • Act as a point of contact on-site, reporting issues, concerns, or repairs as appropriate

Requirements:

  • Good general level of education, including Maths and English (e.g. GCSEs or equivalent) (D)
  • Willingness to undertake mandatory training (e.g. COSHH, Fire Safety) (E)
  • Experience of cleaning, caretaking, or similar janitorial duties (D)
  • Experience of carrying out basic maintenance or DIY tasks (D)
  • Experience working in a customer-facing environment (D)
  • Experience supporting vulnerable or older people (D)
  • Basic DIY and maintenance skills (E)
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements in a residential or communal environment (D)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team (E)
  • Good communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with tenants and colleagues (E)
  • Ability to keep simple records, including stock control (E)
  • Flexible approach to work and willingness to adapt to service needs (E)
  • Basic understanding of the needs of vulnerable and older people (E)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (E)
